Local Government
Davis & Davis, P.C. provides an extensive public law practice, representing local governmental entities including hospital districts, counties and other political subdivisions. This practice runs the gamut of local government activities, including representation of and before governing boards, advice and counsel regarding the Open Meetings Act, Open Records, conflicts of interest, governance issues, election matters, enabling legislation drafting and/or interpretation, government financial transactions and general corporate transactions on behalf of units of local Texas government. The firm has, for many years, been actively involved in helping small, rural hospital districts work through the regulatory mazes and has provided transactional, as well as litigation assistance to these various units of local government, as they attempt to carry out their statutory missions. Davis & Davis, P.C.'s attorneys appear before city councils, special district boards, hospital districts and even quasi-public organizations such as employee benefit plans. The firm has been a leader in assisting its governmental clients to adapt to a changing political climate, through the use of Inter-local Cooperation Act agreements with neighboring units of government for shared services, through innovative funding source acquisitions, and through contract assistance and representation before the Texas Legislature.
